Coach Gef is an AI training coach. This page explains what it collects, why, who processes it, and how to get it deleted. The short version: your data is used to coach you and for nothing else. It's never sold and never used for advertising.
Who we are
Coach Gef is made by Stuart Campbell, who is the data controller. Contact support@coachgef.app about anything on this page.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the name they share. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only see the relay address.
- Health and fitness data, read only with your permission from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android): workouts and exercise sessions, heart rate, distance, calories, steps, sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate and VO2 max. Coach Gef never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect.
- What you tell the coach: your goals, events, training history and preferences, chat messages, and workout notes and logs.
- Your plan: the training blocks, workouts, debriefs and feedback the coach writes for you.
- Technical identifiers: an account ID, and a push notification token for each device you use.
- Usage: how much AI use each account has had this month, so we can apply the monthly cap.
There are no ads, no third-party analytics and no tracking across other apps or websites.
Why we use it
- To build and adapt your training plan, match your recorded workouts to planned sessions, measure training load and readiness, and answer you in the coach chat.
- To sync your account across your devices and send the notifications you've turned on.
- To send sign-in codes to your email address.
- To send you product news by email, but only if you ticked the box to agree. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
Under UK and EU data protection law, we process your data to provide the service you've asked for. We process health data, and send marketing email, only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who processes it
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud store your account and training data and run the coach server, in the EU (Belgium). They also handle Google sign-in and push notifications.
- Anthropic provides the AI model (Claude) behind the coach. When the coach plans, replies or writes a debrief, our server sends Anthropic the relevant context: summaries of your workouts and health metrics, your plan, and your chat messages. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data isn't used to train its models.
- Resend delivers sign-in code emails, and so receives your email address.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple, and Apple Health and Apple Watch on your devices.
Some of these providers process data in the United States. Where they do, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or the UK and EU adequacy arrangements with the US.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account in the app, your account and all its data are deleted straight away. If you ask us by email instead, we delete them within 30 days. Backups held by our providers expire on their normal schedule.
Your choices and rights
- Revoke health access at any time in the iPhone Settings app (Health → Data Access) or in Health Connect.
- Turn marketing email off in Settings → Account.
- Delete your account and all its data in Settings → Delete account. Or email support@coachgef.app from your account's email address and we'll delete it for you; you don't need the app for this.
- You can also ask for a copy of your data or ask us to correct it. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Children
Coach Gef isn't intended for anyone under 16.
Not medical advice
Coach Gef is not a medical device. Speak to a doctor before starting a new training programme.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change applies.
